I talked to a GOCG worker today.

I was walking the bike path today and one of the grounds crew told me that the bike path was closed. I told him I know of three lawyers and a retired judge that disagree with that. I then said I intend to continue walking the path and I know of many others that will also.

I have been carrying the "Good Neighbor" sheet and plan on giving it to the GOGC management when they say something to me. I didn't give it to him because he was just informing me that it was closed. I saw no reason to get one of the grounds crew involved in this.

Note, I have been walking the bike path everyday, weather permitting. Somedays I just do the south edge, others I do the complete circumference.

My wife and I have also been walking the bike path every day. We in countered the starter at the first hole one day and he told us we could not walk the path anymore and we would be issued a "ticket" if we continue. The starter was very pleasant.

I think the problem may be the lack of respect given to the golfers. We live right on hole #8 and I have seen people just continue walking or biking as the golfer is setting up to hit a shot. As a golfer myself, this would aggravate me. I think that maybe with some set rules to the public such as ; Stop when the golfer is shooting, and also walk or ride against the flow of the course. Again as a golfer I would rather see a walker or biker walking towards me than to have them come up behind me.

My opinion is that the golfer paid his green fee to play the course and we must respect that.

Maybe those of us that live right on the golf course can help my educating the walkers and bikers.

Just a note about any "ticket". To quote a lawyer, "It is an abuse of law enforcement when threats of criminal trespass are made to gain advantage in a civil land use dispute".

Make sure very body knows and, if GOCG tries anything, we need to know ASAP!!!!

As for golf etiquette. It is absolutely necessary. But the sword has two edges. I saw a golfer drive a golf cart across people's property, right up to their deck and pick up a ball. They then drove back to the path. The ground was very soft so he left some pretty good ruts in that lawn.

I have also seen golfers walk "into the woods" to urinate. Unfortunately they walk so far "in", they have almost walked "out" the other side. Then they proceed to do their duty facing, and in plain view of houses.

We have to live with them and they have to live with us. It is time GOCG realizes that.

My husband and I are also golfers and I agree that there needs to be some etiquette on both sides. Whenever I walk the path I stop when I see someone getting ready to take a swing. I look at it as courtesy to the golfer and safety for me. I have also had experiences with golfers coming right onto our deck to retreive a ball. One scared the heck out of my daughter.
